Refractory grade Magnesite

Sa Magnesite is a natural ore identified as a magnesium carbonate, occurring as a primary mineral in igneous and sedimentary rocks. The magnesite ore is mined and classified; this material is then purified and calcined to provide the raw material for refractory grade magnesite products.

refractory grade magnesite different grades

LKAB Minerals offer a range of Magnesites including Dead Burnt Magnesite, SKLS Magnesite and Nedmag Magnesia for a number of refractory applications.

Dead Burnt Magnesite is made by calcining the magnesite ore in a rotary kiln to produce a high purity product that has high purity, is stable and has good sintering properties.

SKLS Magnesite, also known as Periclase, is made using a calcination and seawater process.
Nedmag 99 is a high purity synthetic Dead Burned Magnesia produced by Nedmag Industries. It has a magnesia content of 99% min.

Refractory grade Magnesite applications

  • Man standing in large brick kiln

    Magnesite in refractories

Due to their magnesia contents, our Magnesite materials are utilised in general and exacting refractory applications including:

    • MagCarbon Bricks
    • MagSpinel Bricks
    • Magnesite Bricks
    • MagDolomite Bricks
    • Refractory Specialities
