First steps towards integration

News December 7, 2018

Members of the LKAB Special Products Division management team visited the UK’s Flixborough operation this week. Meanwhile they took the opportunity to meet with colleagues from Francis Flower’s nearby Scunthorpe operation. After all, this was the ideal time for an informal social meeting. It also allowed new colleagues to learn more about the two companies, as well as meet some of the people. A site tour of Scunthorpe’s GGBS operation and facilities also took place. This because, the LKAB team wanted to understand more about the local business, people and processes on site.

Welcoming new employees

Darren Wilson, CEO Europe and Managing Director for the UK & Ireland business commented ‘this week’s meeting was the first step in getting to know each other. It enabled colleagues to learn more about the business and people. We are keen to retain the value and competencies within both companies, and our people are key to successful integration.’

Leif Bostrom, Senior Vice President Special Products Division and CEO LKAB Minerals group commented on the event. He said ‘I am happy to welcome the Francis Flower team to us. It was especially interesting to meet them and learn more about the business and operations. It is good to see that our new colleagues are running a very high standard of operations, meanwhile focusing on safety’.

‘I’d like to personally thank Darren, Leif and all members of the LKAB senior team for spending time with us this week’ says Rowan Elliott, Francis Flower Group Operations Director.  ‘As Francis Flower employees, we are very proud of our heritage. It is fantastic to see that we are joining an organisation centred on our existing philosophy of putting people first.  We all look forward to becoming part of the LKAB family with real excitement.’

Business as usual

‘Over the coming months, integration will be at the forefront of both our operations’ says Darren. ‘However, we are keen to reiterate to our customers and employees that it is business as usual. We expect the integration to be seamless. We want to ensure the excellent service Francis Flower provides is not affected.’
