We supply a range of virgin alumino-silicate and magnesia refractory minerals, as well as recycled alumina and magnesia-based aggregates, utilised in monolithic refractory products for a number of applications.

Alongside our range of materials, we can support the development and production of monolithic products through our refractory services:

Applications

Refractory castables

Monolithic refractory castables are a group of products which with the addition of water, are cast into place. Castables are supplied dry, mixed onsite and installed behind shuttering or cast in a mould to form the required shape.

There are various types of castable products including:

  • Conventional
  • Low & ultra-low Cement
  • Insulating
  • Chemically bonded
  • Basic

The type of refractory castable used depends on the required properties and application.

Gunning materials

Gunning materials are high-temperature refractory materials which are placed using varying types of Gunning equipment through a nozzle with additions of Water and Air. These materials are designed so as to stick in place and set quickly when being applied to the required area such as walls and roofs.

Due to the nature of their placement using compressed air, their particle size is smaller than general castables, this aids in the reduction of rebound off the wall.

Gunning materials are used in a range of industries from Incineration and Petrochemical, to Iron and Steel business sectors.

Mouldable and Ramming Refractory Products

Mouldable mixes are refractories which are installed by hammering or ramming and have sufficient plasticity to mould to whatever shape is required. Ramming mixes usually contain a clay which is tempered with water, de-aired and extruded into blocks.

Ramming mixes contain the same refractory aggregates as mouldables but are supplied in a damp granular form ready for installation using pneumatic rammers. The mix, containing refractory minerals and clay, can also include organic plasticisers.

Refractory Mortars

Refractory mortars can have hydraulic or chemical binders and are generally used in conjunction with standard refractory bricks of variable shapes and sizes. A refractory mortar can be supplied ready mixed with water or dry to be mixed on site.
