Minimising manual handling with Gypsol Screeds - LKAB Minerals
floor screed installed in apartment

In March 2020, Gypsol Classic screed was installed across eight floors as part of a housing development in Brighton, UK.

The project saw a total of 3,724m2 of Gypsol over the course of the project, supplied by Axtell and installed by B M Hepburn.

Health and Safety benefits

Gypsol Classic was chosen as the binder of choice due to its properties as a flowing, self-compacting and environmental screed.

Steven Turner, Project Manager for Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure commented ‘We chose Gypsol flowing screed predominantly because of the reduction in musculoskeletal damage that operators suffer from traditional sand cement screeds when operating 8 hours a day.’

Gypsol is proven to reduce the manual handling impact imposed on joints, hands and knees by sand and cement screeds when feeding the mixer and pump and installing the screed.

Selsfield Drive development

The Selsfield Drive development involves the construction of an eight-storey block of flats on the site of a former housing office. In total, 30 flats will be available for rent upon completion of the project. This will consequently, provide affordable housing to the city of Brighton.
