Minelco GmbH has granted S&B Industrial Minerals an exclusive marketing licence for the AWB system in order to secure greater market penetration. S&B are the chosen partner for this project as they are a strong supplier to the German foundry market.
The intensive work undertaken by Minelco over the past years on the AWB system has been handed over to S&B for them to take advantage of for future development. S&B can now establish themselves as a solution provider in foundry coreshops; strategically, this step should give S&B more access to light metal foundries.
“The expansion of our product portfolio with the inorganic core binder system AWB is a strategic decision for our future growth in the foundry segment” explains Dr. Andreas Decher, head of the S&B Industrial Minerals Business Unit Foundry Central Europe. He is convinced that environmentally friendly binder systems will be the products of the future. “The environmental aspect has been the base for the development of our ENVIBOND system for machine formed castings and again is now the decisive point for the incorporation of environmentally friendly inorganic coresand binders in our product portfolio. In future, ENVIBOND in combination with the inorganic AWB system may give the possibility to produce even ferrous castings without any emissions”.
ENVIBOND and the AWB system give IKO application and moulding sand specialists the opportunity to match the future demands of the foundry market and continue to develop further environmentally friendly products for the steadily increasing requirements of the foundry industry.
“Although Minelco will withdraw from the operational side of AWB business we will continue to hold all rights for this environmentally friendly core binder system. We are convinced that S&B with their foundry market competence is the right partner to firmly establish the AWB system on the market” says Thomas Tepper, Managing Director of Minelco GmbH.
