Natural mineral solutions for US polymer market

Reinforce Polymer Mica
Mica reinforcement and MagniF sound dampening where two of the topics discussed at the CWF in Philadelphia, USA.

LKAB Minerals presented our effective natural mineral solutions for the plastics industry during this years' Compounding World Forum in Philadelphia.

The second annual conference was held on December 9th and 10th in Philadelphia, USA which has already developed into an important place to meet for the polymers industry players. The conference focused on the production of technical compounds based on thermoplastic elastomers, performance polyolefins, and engineering thermoplastics.

Dr. Chris DeArmitt, LKAB Minerals Business Development Manager for Polymers and Coatings, was asked to present during the two-day conference. He highlighted the unique properties of PW80 MicaFort, HyperCarb and MagniF and explained the specific advantages of each of the products. “I could tell that the interest was high due to detailed questions regarding our Mica reinforcement and the sound dampening properties of MagniF. The brochures vanished from our stand after my presentation,” Chris said.

LKAB Minerals was also present in the exhibition hall. We had one of over 50 stands where the 310 attendees could gain more information on our products. Chris goes on “the conference was an excellent opportunity to discuss the possibilities of our products with potential and existing customers.” Chris is looking forward to presenting again next year but as talks are by invitation only, he will wait and see.

Andy Beevers, editor of the Compounding World magazine and Chairman of the conference, has also asked Chris for an article on magnetite as a filler for polymers. We will update you on where to find the article as soon as it is released.
