Markus Petäjäniemi, new CEO of Minelco

Markus Petäjäniemi has been appointed CEO of Minelco, effective 1 July 2009 with placement at the group head office in Luleå. He succeeds Per-Erik Lindvall, who has been appointed Vice President, Technology & Business Development, in LKAB as of 1 May.

Markus, who holds a degree in engineering, was employed at LKAB in 2005. He was previously Sales Manager, Nordic Countries at the IT service company Athos Origin/WM-Data.

At LKAB Markus started work as project manager for the railway investments. Since 2006 he has been working as Manager, Logistics & Infrastructure, within LKAB’s unit Technology & Business Development. This means that he has been responsible for many of the huge investments in the Swedish ore fields and in Norway, for example the massive renovation of the harbour in Narvik, the so-called SILA project. Markus has also been LKAB’s representative for the planning of a new railway in Kiruna.
