Minelco continue their support to the Institute of Refractories Engineers by exhibiting and presenting at the annual conference on Wednesday 26th September at Kenwood Hall in Sheffield (UK).
The theme for the day was ‘Refractories Converting Minerals to Economic Wealth’ and with speakers presenting technical presentations on the subject. A number presentations were made on a variety of topics covering raw materials, refractory products and refractory applications.
As part of the day’s presentations, Minelco’s Melvyn Bradley (Technical Manager) presented a paper entitled ‘Minerals customised for the refractory Industry’. Melvyn presented Minelco’s history, his history of refractory mineral production (spanning 26 years and 5 different companies), an outline of alumina and magnesia raw materials, new potential materials in refractory production, the history and future of recycled refractory materials, our toll processing service and developing partnerships with customers and investments in new processing and technical facilities at our Flixborough plant.
Also in attendance from Minelco were refractory industry manager Stan Franey with his sales, marketing and technical colleagues. The conference gave the team chance to network with current customers as well as meet new people in the UK refractory industry.
The conference was once again a success with the organisers thanking Minelco for our continued support of the Institute of Refractories Engineers.
