Mark Moriarty, Sales Manager for Processed Minerals presented a technical paper on the origins, properties and benefits of using Calcined Bauxite in High Friction Surface Treatment to those attending the High Friction Surfacing Committee meeting at the ATSSA event on Saturday 7th February 2015.
Alongside, LKAB Minerals exhibited at the conference which ran from the 8th – 10th February at the Tampa Convention Centre in Tampa, Florida. The exhibition proved successful in raising awareness of our product and brand as well as showcasing our experience in this application with a number of interesting enquiries received.
Mark commented ‘There has been a significant increase in the use of High Friction Surface Treatment on ramps and intersections in the US over the last 3 years. Calcined Bauxite is considered the best aggregate for this application because of its excellent friction and wear resistant properties. Trials undertaken by a number of States have proven very successful, reducing accidents by as much as 70% in some cases. This exhibition provided us with an opportunity to raise awareness of our Calcined Bauxite and its consistent properties for HFST.’
