On Friday 9th and Saturday 10th September 2016, employees from LKAB Minerals UK operations cycled a total of 88 miles (142km) in aid of three charities.
The route took place over two days and saw riders from LKAB Minerals Ltd cycling from their head office in Flixborough, North Lincolnshire to the Derby site, 88 miles south west. The team of 23 completed the ride in aid of three charities, chosen by the riders and their fellow colleagues;
- The Motor Neurone Disease Association
- Rotherham Special Care Baby Unit
- Lindsey Lodge Hospice
The event, which was the first of its kind for LKAB Minerals Ltd, was a resounding success and the team have raised a total of £2,706.99, with donations still incoming via their online justgiving page. It is hoped that donations will exceed their £3,000 target.
Darren Wilson, Managing Director for LKAB Minerals Ltd and a participant of the cycling event commented ‘The support for the team and engagement from the riders has been great. The event has raised money for charities close to the hearts of employees within LKAB Minerals as well as providing an opportunity for our employees to engage outside of the workplace. I would like to thank everyone involved in the event for their participation.’
LKAB Minerals would like to thank their customers, suppliers and individuals who supported this event for their sponsorship and donations.
