LKAB Minerals opened IMFORMED's first Mineral Recycling Forum in Rotterdam.

LKAB Minerals opened IMFORMED's first Mineral Recycling Forum in Rotterdam. Request your copy of our technical paper on the 'Recycling of spent refractories' now.

The Forum was held on the 14th and 15th March 2016 and opened with a drinks reception and welcome address, hosted by LKAB Minerals and opened by Darren Wilson, Chief Operating Officer for the group. Darren welcomed all delegates to the event, highlighting the current market trends and expressing the increasing importance of recycling, not only in refractories but across a number of industries. The evening provided all delegates with an opportunity to network and discuss the current climate for recycling.

Day two saw a varied recycling technical programme, from Refractories and Steel to Red Mud and Silica Fume applications. LKAB Minerals participated in the programme, with our Technical Director Melvyn Bradley presenting his paper ‘Recycling of spent refractories’. Melvyn gave an overview of the process involved in recycling refractories as well as the current market, continued growth & future opportunities for recycled refractory materials.

Darren commented ‘The Forum provided an opportunity to meet with fellow recycling companies and refractory producers to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. It is apparent that companies are looking to make the move towards recycled materials, and continued investments from LKAB Minerals and other recycling companies are ensuring these materials are cost effective, quality alternatives to virgin materials.’

LKAB Minerals offer a range of alumina and magnesia based virgin and recycled materials.
