Recycled Refractory Bricks pile

UNITECR 2015 is the principal international Conference for the refractory industry and this year LKAB Minerals made a big impression.

Focus on Recycling

LKAB Minerals had a strong presence at the event in Vienna. The company exhibited and promoted a range of products and services to the Refractory industry. The main focus for the exhibition was to promote our range of alumino-slilicate and magnesia based recycled refractory materials. Next to that we presented our recently launched Moerdijk refractory recycling centre in the Netherlands.

Together with our exposition, Melvyn Bradley, Technical Director at LKAB Minerals Richmond Ltd presented his paper on the Recycling of Spent Refractories. This paper highlights the trends, developments and improvements in recycling over the last few years. Melvyn’s presentation was part of a section on refractory recycling and well attended by conference participants.

Stan Franey, Commercial Director for LKAB Minerals Ltd commented ‘There is an increasing emphasis amongst refractory and steel producers to become more sustainable. Companies are leading to a focus on recycling. It was vital for LKAB Minerals to grow and establish our recycled portfolio amongst other suppliers and refractory producers. The UNITECR event proved to be the perfect stage for this.’

Our customers noticed our presence at UNITECR. They commented on how the exhibition revealed us as a major, strong supplier to the refractory industry.

Refractories and LKAB Minerals

LKAB Minerals offer a range of virgin and recycled refractory materials as well as a toll manufacturing service; a facility for mixing and blending materials to customer specific recipes. This allows us to supply the finished refractory product for onward sale or consumption. Our technical expertise and laboratories enable us to develop new innovative products, working in close collaboration with our customers.

An international refractory platform

The Unified International Technical Conference on Refractories is held bi-annually around the globe. The conference is the biggest international refractories congress and tradeshow. This year, UNITECR was held at the historical Hofburg Congress Centre in Vienna, Austria between the 15th and 18th September. More than 900 participants from 48 countries attended the Congress. They learnt about the latest developments and trends, shared experiences and developed relationships with personal contacts.
