Recycled refractory brick in hand

LKAB Minerals offer virgin and recycled refractory minerals, alongside toll processing and recycling services to the industry.

The International Colloquium on Refractories and Institute of Refractories Engineers Annual conference were prime opportunities to promote our range of refractory minerals and refractory services in the UK and Germany.

International Colloquium on Refractories

LKAB Minerals joined the 56th International Colloquium on Refractories, in Aachen, Germany in September. The event provided an opportunity to promote LKAB Minerals recycled refractory products and toll processing services. We exhibited here for the first time. The colloquium proved useful in building awareness of our recycled products in particular. We noted that a number of companies knew us but not our recycled product range.

Important topics

Topics at the event included:

  • Castables for Industrial Applications – still room for improvement;
  • Refractory raw materials supply – is there cause for concern?;
  • and Lightweight Insulating refractory bricks – technology and applications.

Mark Moriarty, Sales Manager for LKAB Minerals commented “this show was great for showcasing our portfolio of products and services. We met a large number of leads, particularly in Eastern Europe, Asia, and the USA.”

More refractory shows

In October, LKAB Minerals exhibited and attended the Institute of Refractories Engineers Annual Conference at Hellaby Hall, Sheffield, UK. The conference again provided an opportunity to showcase the LKAB Minerals brand. Additionally it allowed us to network with a number of customers and new contacts. The one day conference covered a number of technical papers including:

  • Challenges and Opportunities for Refractory Manufacturers
  • Monolithic Refractory Materials for Fluidised Beds Boilers

Industry members from both the UK and mainland Europe attended this show. It allowed us to show we offer virgin and recycled refractory minerals, alongside toll processing and recycling services to the industry.
