LKAB Minerals offers a variety of industrial minerals for concrete applications.
Our GGBS, MagnaDense and Gypsol teams will be available at the NEC, Birmingham to discuss your concrete and screed requirements. In addition, Richard Hunt, Sales Manager for Magnetite will be presenting the seminar ‘High Density Concrete in Construction’ on day two (Thursday) of the event.
High density concrete
LKAB Minerals has supplied MagnaDense to civil engineering applications for many years, for use as an aggregate in concrete. In more recent years, the uses of dense concrete containing the natural iron ore mineral MagnaDense, has grown. For example from the traditional hospital radiation shielding builds, to tunnels, nuclear, renewable energy and offshore applications.
Join Richard at the Concrete Show 2019 for his presentation. His speech will firstly focus on the characteristics of MagnaDense and its properties within concrete. Secondly it will be followed by three of the most recent applications including;
- The Crossrail project and the development of the first High Density Floating Track Slab (FTS);
- the use of dense concrete in nuclear new builds and the development of concrete waste encapsulation boxes;
- and the development of a high density dolphin mooring quay in the Port of Tyne.
Environmentally friendly alternatives
Gypsol anhydrite screed binder is made mainly from recycled material. Therefore it offers a cost effective, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional labour intensive sand cement screeds. In addition, you can speak to our team of national specification managers. Each of them can provide expert advice for your flooring project. However, you can also visit our dedicated website to find our more.
Ground Granulated Blastfurnace Slag (GGBS) is made from a by-product of the iron manufacturing process. And the concrete industry uses it as a cement replacement in concrete production. This is because GGBS replaces the Portland Cement content in concrete by up to 70%. And consequently can not only improve durability but also significantly reduce the embodied CO2 of the finished concrete. Visit our stand or our website to find out more.
Why visit the Concrete Show?
The Concrete Show 2019 is already in its ninth year. This show is the only UK event that dedicates itself exclusively to the concrete industry. This year also showcases its first outdoor live demo area.
