MagniF is a very pure and fine powder milled from the natural mineral Magnetite mined and processed at our group resources in the north of Sweden. This relation ensures a long-term, reliable source of consistent quality material.
You will find that our MagniF from the natural iron oxide Magnetite is ferri-magnetic, greyish-black in colour as well as thermally and electrically conductive.

Our MagniF product range is available in paper sacks or big bags. Due to the products conditions no bulk solution is available.

MagniF mineral origin
LKAB Minerals‘ Magnetite is mined from our own group resources. The LKAB mines are located in Kiruna and Malmberget in the northern part of Sweden. The iron ore is mined and milled at the mine site and railed to one of two ports – Luleå in Sweden or Narvik in Norway. The ports are part of the LKAB Group logistics structure. LKAB Minerals supply from these ports and from strategic stocks at various locations around the world.
Magnetite is inert, will not rust and does not degrade with time or usage. It is ferri-magnetic and for that reason will be attracted by a magnet. This natural mineral can be recovered, recycled and reused over and over again.

What is MagniF?+

What is the density of MagniF?+
MagniF grades have a density of 5.1 to 5.2
Is MagniF magnetic?+
MagniF, being magnetite, is ferri- or soft magnetic which means it is attracted by a magnet or a magnetic field but MagniF does not stay magnetic. Permanent magnetism is called ferro- or hard magnetic.
In which countries do you sell MagniF?+

Can you supply MagniF in a different colour?+
No, MagniF is greyish black and we don’t supply colour-coated versions. However, MagniF is successfully used in compounds with a variety of colours, including light grey and light blue. For these coloured compounds, it is important to select the right MagniF grade. Get in contact with us to hear more about the possibilities for your application.
What is the hardness of MagniF?+
The Mohs hardness is 5.5 – 6 which corresponds with 60 – 65 HRC or 670 – 800 HV. You will find more product information on the other TAB of this product page.
Is MagniF abrasive?+
Being a hard mineral MagniF is abrasive which means care has to be taken with regard to the processing equipment.
Can I use MagniF in my polymer?+
Most MagniF is used in PP and PA, but also in PC, POM, PEEK etc. MagniF is also successfully used in various rubbers and in water-based paints. Contact our nearest sales manager for more information on your specific application.
How do I have to process MagniF?+
MagniF is relatively easy to disperse during compounding, please contact LKAB Minerals for more detailed information. In magnet paints, MagniF is typically added to the ready-made paint latex/formulation.
How much MagniF can I add to my polymer?+
With proper equipment up to approximately 80 wt.% MagniF can be compounded in a polymer. Compounding guidelines for MagniF are available upon request with your nearest regional contact person.
Can I make my polymer detectable with MagniF?+
Yes, adding typically 10 – 20 wt.% MagniF to a polymer or rubber makes it both X-ray and metal detectable. This is called “dual detectability”. You can read more on the special page dedicated to this application on our website or contact one of our team members for extra information.
Can I use MagniF for food contact?+
Yes, we have MagniF 10F and MagniF 25F grades available which are food-approved according to FDA and EC regulations.
Do you supply compounds with MagniF?+
No, LKAB Minerals is the supplier of MagniF to many compounding companies that have built a lot of expertise.
Do I need to pre-dry MagniF?+
Pre-drying is not needed as MagniF is delivered in a dry state.
Is MagniF registered in REACH?+
MagniF is a mineral which is not chemically treated and therefore REACH exempt, a formal statement is available upon request. Contact your nearest office to receive this
Do you supply MagniF with a coating to improve adhesion?+
No, in the 20 years of MagniF history this has never been necessary.
