Last week LKAB Minerals signed a contract with NCC, one of the leading construction companies in the Nordic region, for the supply of Minelco MagnaDense products to a new radiation treatment clinic at Skåne University Hospital in Lund, Sweden.
The new radiation treatment clinic will cover an area of 10,700 square meters over five floors.
New hospital expansion uses MagnaDense concrete
Skåne University Hospital expands the current cancer-treatment operations. At the same time, they will link these rooms to the new building. This modern construction will include such facilities as a reception area, radiotherapy department and six new radiation treatment rooms.
NCC will use our magnetite-based product, MagnaDense as concrete aggregate for building the six new radiation treatment rooms. For this project, they require a volume of 5,000 m3 of heavy concrete with a density of 3.8 t/m3.
This contract for the delivery of MagnaDense further strengthens our position as a supplier to radiation shielding.
