News July 18, 2018

The Awards, which takes place on Wednesday 21st November, is in its 50th year and is the longest running UK Construction Industry Awards. The event provides an opportunity to showcase projects for their excellence in concrete as a structural, architectural and sustainable material.

LKAB Minerals and the project team Crossrail, Arup, ATC, London Concrete and Camfaud Concrete Pumps, have been shortlisted alongside 15 other projects. You can find out more online about the event.

Due to open for service in December 2018, the Crossrail project will see over 42km of tunnels pass beneath central London.

In certain sections of the tunnel network, the noise and vibration impacts from the operating railway were of particular concern. The solution was a high density floating track slab (FTS), produced using MagnaDense concrete with a density of 3.6 t/m3.

In September 2017, the project team held a technical webinar to explain more about the project. There is also a Case Study available on request. Contact your regional Sales Manager for more details.
