Product information
LKAB Minerals exclusively source the highest quality Muscovite and Phlogopite Mica from proven reserves worldwide.
From natural Micas, we manufacture DekorFlake products in our European plant. The production process increases the natural colour effects of the Mica raw material. We create a range of large flaked or fine powdered products in bronze, silver, gold and black.
We offer a wide variety of aesthetic effects, which become achievable with our DekorFlake particle sizes and colours. Different addition levels allow a different variety of finishes to be achieved, such as granite, flecked, glittering/sparkling or metallic lustre.
Properties of DekorFlake – Micas
All DekorFlake colours and grades are resistant to UV, weather, chemical and thermal degradation. The minerals are also compatible with organic and inorganic matrices and systems.
The main physical properties of DekorFlake include the following:
- Metallic lustre
- Controlled colour consistency
- Tightly controlled particle size distribution
- UV stability
- Weather resistance
- Solvent resistance
- Acid and alkali resistance
- Tough but flexible, plate-shaped particles
DekorFlake applications
Our DekorFlake products are used in, for example:
-
Decorative concrete
- Floors
- Walls
- Driveways
- Decorative paint
- Solid surfaces
This mineral gives the products mentioned above a decorative look. If you have another application for DekorFlake, please don’t hesitate to contact our sales colleagues.

Mineral information
We produce our DekorFlake from Phlogopite and Muscovite Mica.
DekorFlake mineral origin
The origins of these minerals are as follows:
Phlogopite is associated with metamorphosed limestone and ultrabasic rocks. Particularly hydrothermal veins formed through metasomatism of magnesium-rich rocks as well as ultrabasic and carbonatite ring intrusions associated with ancient shield areas. We source our LKAB Minerals‘ Phlogopite Mica from a major deposit in Finland.
Muscovite is a constituent of acid igneous rocks like granite, pegmatite, or alaskite, some regionally metamorphosed rocks and clastic sedimentary rocks, and is a product of alteration. Most commercial deposits are derived from pegmatites which contain 1-2% and rarely up to 10% muscovite. You can find Mica in many regions of the world in the form of pegmatite rock and mica schist.
DekorFlake toxicology
Phlogopite and Muscovite Mica are both non-toxic natural minerals. Please download the Safety Data Sheets from the data centre for further information.
