Olivine’s properties vary depending on the levels of its two main components forsterite (Fo) and fayalite (Fa). It is named after its olive green colour.

Olivine is a naturally occurring silica-free material. It has applications across construction and high temperature minerals industry applications. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, for example as a slag conditioner, refractory raw material, foundry & blasting sand, and high friction surfacing. Other than these, it can also be used for gunning, tundish linings, animal feeds, and other horticultural applications.
