The benefits of using Gypsol as liquid floor screed

Learn how Gypsol was used in the Wood Wharf buildings in Canary Wharf. Enquire today to find out how Gypsol can enhance your construction projects.

The speed and efficiency of using TS15 has enabled us to screed up to three floors every week to keep up with programme needs. Which is invaluable when projects are sometimes behind schedule and screed is one of the last things to go in.

Scott Baker

We can lay a whole floor in a day with liquid screed and then within a couple of days foot traffic can return onto it and works can progress whereas if you went down a traditional method you’d be on there at least five six days.

Gypsol liquid flowing screed FAQs

Gypsol is a high-performance, anhydrite-based liquid screed binder for smooth, self-levelling floors. Compared to sand-cement screeds, it flows better, dries faster, and achieves more consistent strength, making it ideal for precise residential and commercial floors.
Gypsol offers a range of screeds and additives to suit different needs:
Classic: Standard liquid screed for general use
Rapide: Fast-drying screed for quick projects
HTC (High Thermal Conductivity): Optimised for underfloor heating
TS-15 & TS-20: Thin screeds for bonded or unbonded applications
TimBRE: Acoustic screed for timber floors
XS: Extra-strength screed for heavy-duty floors
Summit: Pumped installations and high-rise projects
Modular: For modular buildings and lightweight steel decks
Gypsol Zero Laitance (ZL): Eliminates surface laitance, removes sanding, and accelerates project delivery
Gypsol reduces embodied carbon by replacing part of the cement content with anhydrite binder. Like GGBS and Calcined Clay, it significantly lowers CO₂ emissions compared to traditional sand-cement screeds.
Typical thicknesses range from 15 mm for thin screeds (TS‑15/TS‑20) up to 65 mm for heavy-duty commercial floors. Its self-levelling properties ensure consistent coverage at any thickness.
The HTC variant offers excellent thermal conductivity, rapid heat response, and minimal shrinkage, preventing cracks and maximising energy efficiency.
Drying times vary by variant and thickness but generally take 2 to 7 days, far faster than cement-based screeds, which can take up to 28 days. Gypsol Zero Laitance (ZL) further speeds up project delivery by eliminating sanding.
Yes, the Summit variant maintains flow over long distances without segregation, making it ideal for multi-storey buildings.
TimBRE screeds reduce impact sound on timber subfloors, and Gypsol’s uniform density ensures even heat distribution for underfloor heating, improving comfort and efficiency.
Gypsol products come with data sheets, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Declarations of Performance (DoPs), and ISO 14025 certifications. These provide verified performance, environmental impact data, and quality assurance.
Gypsol is supplied as a dry powder or pre-blended mix, combined with water, and poured onto a prepared subfloor. Its self-levelling properties reduce manual finishing, and standard pumping equipment works for larger installations.
Yes. Gypsol is verified by independent EPDs, supports lower carbon construction, and is suitable for projects targeting BREEAM or LEED certification.
LKAB Minerals provides online tools including case studies, embodied carbon calculators, and drying time estimators to support planning and decision-making.
