High-purity natural iron oxide sourced from our own resources.
Highly versatile with applications across multiple industries.
Magnetite is a versatile, naturally occurring iron oxide mined from our own operations in northern Sweden. We offer a wide range of high‑purity Magnetite products and have developed specialised solutions tailored to the needs of specific industries. Magnetite is valued for its high density, iron (Fe) content, ferrimagnetic properties, excellent thermophysical performance, and high abrasiveness.
Magnetite is practically an inert and environmentally responsible mineral, sourced from our own mines and produced for over 130 years. We offer a broad range of high‑purity Magnetite products, available in grades from fine to coarse, and supplied in both wet and oven‑dried forms. This flexibility enables us to meet the requirements of a wide range of industrial applications, including thermal storage. Magnetite is characterised by its high iron (Fe) content, ferrimagnetic properties, and other beneficial characteristics, making it well suited for demanding industrial environments.
Magnetite is available in a wide range of high‑purity products, from fine to coarse grades and from wet to oven‑dried material. This flexibility allows us to meet the requirements of thermal storage and other diverse industrial applications.

As part of the international LKAB Group, LKAB Minerals operates 12 countries worldwide, providing you valuable local expertise. Most locations have their own storage facilities, enabling us to supply Magnetite on time, cost-effectively, and all year-round – always of the highest quality.
From our natural Magnetite, we have developed product lines that meet industry‑specific requirements:
In addition to these specialised applications, our wide Magnetite product range is suitable for a broad variety of other uses.
Magnetite stands out for its versatility. This flexibility enables us to meet the requirements of a wide range of industrial applications such as thermal storage. Below is a brief overview of some of its applications:
Mined from our group resources, we can ensure our products’ long-term availability and consistent quality. Kiruna and Malmberget, in the northern part of Sweden, are the places where our Magnetite mines are located. The ore is mined and processed at the mine site and railed to one of the two ports – Luleå (Sweden) or Narvik (Norway). The ports are part of the LKAB Group logistics structure and are operated year-round.
Magnetite for foundry applications is harmless to the environment, non-toxic in all its forms and, for all practical purposes – inert.
